WINSTON-SALEM, NC (AP) — A Minnesota-based cereal maker says it’s opening a distribution center in Winston-Salem next month.
The Winston-Salem Journal reports MOM Brands Inc., formerly known as Malt-O-Meal, will open the center at Union Cross Business Park on the city’s southeastern side.
MOM spokeswoman Lisa Fisher said the company plans to provide more details about the Winston-Salem center once operations begin.
MOM Brands, based in Lakeville, Minnesota, also has production operations in Asheboro where it has about 250 employees. The company added production in Asheboro in 2012 as part of a $140 million expansion there.
Fisher said the distribution center won’t impact Asheboro, except to allow the company to ship products from Asheboro to Winston-Salem rather than to the current distribution center in Tennessee, which will close when the Winston-Salem center opens.
